Lectures & Workshops

A legendary teacher and reader of poetry, Morton's jovial personality makes him a popular and provocative speaker.

Morton is available for lectures and guest appearances to speak on the art of poetry and fiction, the history of film, and politics. Popular topics include not only all phases of literature and film, but history in general and how it affects the modern world. Morton is especially versed in the history of Greece, the Balkans, and American foriegn policy.

Morton is also available to teach workshops on poetry and fiction. Popular topics include the prose poem, the short short story, and how poetry is an indispensible aid to the fiction writer.

California poet laureate Al Young, author and book designer Deng Ming-Dao and such well-known Santa Cruzans as Ellen Bass, Geoffrey Dunn, James D. Houston, Jeanne Wakatsuki Houston, Sandy Lydon, George Ow, Jr., and Cheryl Anderson conducting members of the Cabrillo Symphonic Chorus and Cantiamo in two of  Marcus’s
poems from "The Peace of Wild Things" which was performed
last year at  Carnegie Hall.
